Ms. O'Grady does a fine job regurgitating basic Dachshund facts throughout her book. However, the lack of basic copy editing proved too distracting for me. I came to read this book as a basic refresher prior to adopting my third Dachshund. While I did not learn anything new, I'm sure it would prove educational for those with no prior dog experience.Overall, I would not recommend this book. The poor syntax, grammar, and usage made it incredibly hard to continue willingly. Moreover, it provides little, if any, new information for those who have had any previous pet experience.
And a personal note: the use of 'Dachshund Hound' throughout is redundant and infuriating.

Useful but kind of short
This is a must read for the new Dachshund owner, or someone considering the breed. I would have given it 5 stars if the version had photos.
This is a good, basic book about doxie ownership. It's a nice, quick read, and something I will be referencing over the next few months.
I have grown up with dachshunds, I have raised and loved 12 dachshunds in my lifetime.
This book is an excellent resource for novices as well as those familiar with the loveable breed.
It includes important information as well as fun facts.
I was preparing to adopt a rescue dachshund. This book was very informative and helped me prepare for adopting which we did this weekend.
This book gave me all the answers to my questions. Thank you so much. I would recommend this book to everyone thinking of buying/adopting a Doxie. We adopted our treasure recently. She is an absolute treasure on three legs. So loving. Thank you for all this wonderful information. It will help me make her life very special, and help our other dog feel like she has a sister.
