In Candor Candy Global Poems, Helene Pilibosian presents her love for art, music, nature, and travel in poems with an international flavor. Her travels take her readers all over the world, and then across America, stopping at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to admire a khatchkar, an Armenian cross-stone. Her Armenian roots are also evident in poems like "For That Iris"
I grew up with the minor key,
sharagans in church
the essence of Armenian history
condensed into a few notes,
But she acknowledges being a child of the West in "Midnight Performs"
I will say
that I am from the East,
my features proof of this.
But often I speak more like
a person of the West
an independent gal
who cultivates her niche.
She eventually returns to her native Boston, only to observe the chaos of the Boston Marathon bombing in "Clam Chowder Manners"
But I forgot clam chowder manners
on Boylston street that day
when the marathon exploded.
My memory has dulled
around the edges of the names.

Candor Candy Global Poems Helene Pilibosian 9781530080861 Books
A collection of 59 Poems which are published Post humanely after the Author; Helene Pilibosian left us last year (2015). She was a successful writer and editor and had been published many times before. This is the second of two post humanly books that were published and I have already picked up the other one as well and will start reading it as soon as I finish this review. This particular book of poems follows her through the world as the title suggests and I truly got the sense of each place through the poems beautiful wordings and metaphors. I am not a person who enjoys long, laborious poems that go on and on, I prefer my poems to be quick and to the point and although some of the poems presented here tended to make me stop and think and little bit about them, and the possible hidden or true meanings behind them, I never minded but rejoiced therein. A great book, and as I already stated, I picked up another to keep me going..

Candor Candy Global Poems Helene Pilibosian 9781530080861 Books Reviews
Helene Pilibosian is a unique, fine poet, a woman overflowing with her Armenian heritage which she celebrates throughout her poems, She has a profound respect and understanding of the place of Armenia in world history and for those readers whose knowledge of that country's changing geography and relationship to the great kingdoms and conquerors, Pilibosian has a technique that allows entry into this under-appreciated past. But what makes Pilibosian's poetry most interesting and seductive is her interlacing the immigrant experience with the voices of 'those who stayed behind'. Some of these poems, written in a narrative style with a refreshing respect for language as it describes and plays with itself in rhyme, address contemporary issues peculiar to Armenians while others step into the universal arena, a space enlightened by a mind whose focus and devotion has been honed by a respect for roots.
In CANDOR CANDY GLOBAL POEMS, her 6th published book of poetry, Helene’s gift for levity and lightness and a true global spirit is evident. In this posthumous collection we are offered her love for art, music, nature, and travel in poems with an international flavor. Her travels take her readers all over the world, and then across America, stopping at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to admire a khatchkar, an Armenian cross-stone. Her Armenian roots are also evident.
CAUCASIAN CHARMS
Caucasian profiles
have a definite character,
like the mountain ranges
men pondered and the rugs
women’s fingers spun
as designs flickered
in the mood of dances,
feet prancing in similar patterns.
Predictions romance facts.
A diamond in the sun,
a topaz the moon.
The mountains also dance
to their solar tunes.
Life is more personal
When hand takes hand
And the circle dance begins.
Caucasian eyes see twice,
once though a diamond
and another through a topaz.
These charms are on loan
by those who’ve not fallen
between the lines.
Helen’s pen may now be at rest, but her inestimable gifts to the world of poetry live on. Grady Harp, April 16
Candor Candy Global Poems by Helene Pilibosian is a beautiful book of poems that was published after the authors death in 2015. This is actually the 2nd book published posthumously. This collection of 50 poems will take you around the world, as each poem is about a place the author traveled to. The poems are easy to read and quite enjoyable with metaphors and hidden meanings throughout.
I don’t think I can’t have enough of these books; ‘Planet Tome Reborn’ takes you on a journey of beautiful words compiled together with sci-fi elements in such a masterful way.
This time ‘Candor Candy’ takes you on a journey around the world, using the same structure of the previous book, but with the uses of the metaphors on a whole new level, you feel like travelling around the world with such creativity, the poems are a nice contrast to those we previously known for being long and strictly elaborated. These are short and simple, but very deep at the same time, every poem I ended reading it, I was left wondering what such words mean? What kind of purpose do we possess in the places we are born? It is an incredible experience and it left you wanting to read just one more poem before go to bed, or even better, you ended whatever you were doing to just keep reading it, trust me, it is a memorable trip.
